°The openers that say "Made in the U.S.A" appeared between 1943 & the early 1970's. The number above "Made in the U.S.A repressnts the openers position in which it was molded to be used for casting. That way if there was ever a defect with an opener after being cast, the number allowed the foundry to quickly identify & fix the issue. The number does NOT represent the year it was made nor the order.
°These bottle openers became collectibles over the years because of their history, trademark, & variety of designs. Most are zinc or chrome plated but there have also been openers known to have been nickel, copper, & even 24-karat gold plated openers.
